Biofuel Technologies, LLC has its roots in the paper industry. Its patented drying/conditioning system converts unusable paper pulp waste to fuel. The fuel is used in a closed loop to dry the pulpwood waste. This process significantly reduces waste to landfills while producing heat, hot water, and more recently, hydrogen gas. This synthesis gas is now being used to fuel internal combustion engines and generators to produce power. Recently, Biofuel Technologies LLC has been developing a system to process farm wastes, particularly, animal waste. A successful prototype dryer and conditioner is currently under testing and control utilizing horse manure. These developments will substantially reduce the release of greenhouse gases over currently accepted best practices of composting for disposal of these wastes. Methane, a byproduct of composting, is 10 times stronger than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. The Biofuel system eliminates the release of methane while remaining carbon neutral, removes pathogens and significantly decreases the overall volume of waste; while providing hot water, electrical power and a valuable soil amendment. Since the system is virtually closed loop, there are no offensive odors released to the atmosphere, which is especially important for smaller farms and suburban stables. The dryer/conditioner will soon be modified to process cow, pig and sheep wastes.
